women be shoppin' (Office edition)

So after being at work for a few hours, I hear my supervisor in her office next door, crying into her cell phone in broken weeping Indian. Not really one to put my nose in other's people's business, I just kept doing what I was supposed to do. Close to an hour passes and she calls me and the other assistant into her office.

"I made a new voice mail message, I want to know what you guys think about it." she said.

"...oh"

She calls her cell phone from the ground line and puts it on speaker:

"Sorry I'm not available at the moment, and thank you for caring enough to call. Please leave a message after the beep. I am making some changes in my life, and if I don't return your call, you are one of those changes... beep."

And in complete silence, there's the most awkward moment in my professional life. Trying to think of how to respond to this, while going through all the sensible possibilities in my head as to why in the world did this woman want her two assistants to hear this, I blurt out "It's kind of mean, no?" More awkward silence followed by a nod on my part and an exit.
